Struvite doesn’t announce itself. It builds up quietly inside anaerobic digestion pipework until flow is restricted, equipment is working harder, and someone has to take the line offline. The usual approaches to struvite removal don’t make that moment any easier. Hydrochloric or formic acid can take anywhere from 6 to 24 hours and carries real handling risks. Rodding and hosing can take days on heavier deposits, and it often leaves the job half done.
SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK wanted a better option at one of its South East England sites: safer for the people doing the work, less wasteful, and quicker to get the plant running again. Using Struvite Remover, SUEZ cleared all struvite build-up from the treated pipework in two hours.
